After college she worked and backpacked overseas for three years before returning to Birmingham. She is devoted to her husband of 26 years and her three children, ages 20, 18 and 14. She still loves to hike, backpack, and travel.

She participates in various service programs with her church including The Family Promise program which provides temporary housing for families in need. Ashley also serves in a Southside meal ministry program on a weekly basis.

Ashley has a BA in Psychology from Vanderbilt University and a MA in Counseling from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.

Ashley has been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 1993.  Clinical experience includes working with teens and their families in day treatment and residential treatment settings. She also maintained a private practice working with pre-adolescents, adolescents and adults. Her current position with Samaritan Counseling Centers includes counseling pre-adolescents through adults in individual and family therapy.

Ashley’s goal is to provide a safe and non-judgmental atmosphere in which clients can explore areas that prevent them from leading a productive and fulfilling life. Such areas might include relationship conflicts, grief,  anger management, anxiety, depression, behavior problems or any other issue impacting one’s life. She hopes to meet clients where they are and help them develop effective coping skills. Ashley also seeks to empower her clients by encouraging them to identify the choices they can make to improve their lives.
