Laurie Pierce grew up in rural Wetumpka, Alabama. From an early age she enjoyed participating in numerous outdoor activities – horseback riding, hiking, and more – and playing every sport available to her. She has a passion for life and spends every opportunity investing in her family and her counseling ministry.
Laurie has a B.S. in Psychology and a minor in Nutrition from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. She also has a Masters in Agency Counseling from the University of Alabama in Birmingham. While in college she was involved in Campus Crusade for Christ and participated in short-term mission trips to Hawaii and Yugoslavia.
Laurie Pierce is a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Supervising Licensed Professional Counselor. Laurie’s clinical experience includes: working with pregnant and post-partum women in a local residential program; ministering to adolescents and their families at an inpatient adolescent facility; and helping children and adolescents cope with living in a group home setting.
Laurie also has experience working with adolescents, adults and their families in an intensive substance abuse outpatient program. One of the more recent joys of her career was being a part of the Drug Court Team of Shelby County; where she served as a treatment provider and consultant.
Laurie’s passion is assisting children, adolescents and adults in discovering their true feelings and identity. Through many years of work and study, Laurie has grown in her understanding of how to help others identify and apply healthy and productive coping skills. She believes her calling is to work with children, adolescents and families in order to help them establish effective communication and relationship skills.
